Robijnson arrived in the city last night aud Registered at the Purcell House. A Double Anniversary. To1 -morrow Rev. F. W. E. Pescbau and wife will celebrate the 36th anni versary of their birthdays. They were both born on the same dayjf the month, and in the same year, and we wish them a long life of usefulness and hap piness. A War Kelic Ou Saturday last. Mr. Frank May, who had just returned from a visit to Richmond, Va.. showed us a ten cent piece which had recently been dug from the fortification known as Lee's Battery at Cold Harbor, by men who were engaged in leveling the works. It was dug from the breast woiks. where it was probably dropped when the for tification was thrown up in 1862, and where it had lain ever since. It was quite an old piece, having been coined in 1823. ' The Hifjli School at Rocky Point. We are glad to know that this ex cellent school is in a prosperous and flourishing state. The school property is now owned by the Methodists of the Topsail Circuit and they arc determined to make a first clas institution of learn ing there. They haye appointed a Board of Managers, consisting of Messrs. F. IL Bell, John E. Durham, and Pr. S. S. Satchwell. No. 1, was put on trial this morning, under the Supervision of Mr. T. Button, of the Button Fire Eogine Manufacturing Co., of Waterford, N. Y., who arrived here Friday night for the purpose of testing it. The engine was built by the firm which Mr. Button reDresents. This firm has been in existence half a century, having been established io 1835, and have become known through out the entire country as the lead, ing builders of fire engines. There were quite a number of members of the Howard Relief Company .pres ent this morning to witness the trial and we believe that all wore entirely saiisnea wim me resu.t. it is a mag nificent machine and can do excellen work. It is very appropriately named A. Adrian. All the parts are perfect and the engine is provided with every appliance which can possibly add to its usefulness. There will be a public test of itsi powers made to-morrow fore noon, at which time the entire com pa ny, besides many citizens and other firemen, will be present. From the Fall River News.
