To incarcerate a man as a lunatic in Denmark no'.bing is required but a cer tihcate from a competent practitioner stating that the individual in question is insane. Any one in Denmark is en titled to keep a private, asylum without Ecense. and the patients in such an asy lum are not under State control. Den, mark has an excess of lunatics, due chiefly to the Scandinavian habit of constant dram drinking. They are well cared for in spite of the defect of Ihe lunacy lajv. There is no loncer a tariff question in Austria. The corn tax. which was an. nounced with considerable zeal and hich w as intended to keep American com and flour out of Austria, will not introduced. The tariff question is buried, the Governments of Austria ad Hungary having just agreed not to nvene u new session of the Austrian Parliament, but to dissolve it, as the gal period of its life expires in a few outh-i. and it will be dissolved with allowing the tariff qdestion to be ""cussed. Vegetation, notwithstanding the un favorable weather, is coming forward wonderfully well. Real estate seems to be looking up slightly hereabouts. It has been "down in the mouth1' for a long time. May Da talis this year on Friday, a good thing for the juveniles, as it will give them two holidays together. The ice men would probably be will ing to pool profits with the coal dealers for the months of March, April and May of this year. May Day celebrations this year will have to be postponed until later in the month, unless there is a revival ot business in the flower interest within the next ten days. Rev. W. H. Battle preached a sermon last night of much power at the First Baptist Church. There was a large congregation present and the hupres sion produced by the discourse was profound. The meetings will be con tinued durir; the week with services at 4 p. m. and at 8 p. m. Knights of Honor. Carolina Lodge No. 434. Regular meeting this evening at 8 o'clock. Decorated. The Nor. barque Naja, Henriksen which lies on the West side of the river, just opposite the Custom House, was gaily festooned with flags to-day. It was with considerable difficulty that we learned the occasion of the display of bunting, but finally ascertained that it was in honor of the birthday of one of the stevedores. Corporators Meeting. A meeting of the corporators of the Wilmington, Onslow & East Carolina Railroad will be held to-morrow, Tues day, morning at the City Hall at 11 o'clock. The presence of all the corporators is desired, as this meeting will put the ball in motion and secure the early building of the road. Citizens are in vited to attend. Personal. Mayor Hall left the city on last night's train tor Charleston, S. C, and will be absent two or three days. Rev. C, H. Wiley, District Superin tendent of the American Bible Society for this State, was in the city to day. In company with Prof. Noble he visit ed the several Graded Schools of the city this forenoon, and expressed him self as much pleased with what he saw and heard. MARRIED.
