The receipts of the Fair amounted to about $3,500, which is the largest sum ever realized in this city in a similar enterprise. 3 One of the pleasantest episodes of the Catholic Fair was the complimentary supper to Misses Louise Knight, Sue Hew lett and Same .Ixve ? and the pre sentation of three handsome works of art. as souvenirs, for their services to the ladv manaeers of the Fair. The presentation speech was made . by Col. F. W. Kerchner and responded to by Mr. J. D. Nntt. ? The Uorcas Society. This organization; connected with St. Paul's Lutheran Church, held very interesting meeting last Thursday night at Lutber Memorial building. There was a fair attendance and much interest in the work of the Society was manifested. During the evening's ex. crcises Miss Lillie Rulfa, the Secretary read a history of the society, which was organized in 1870. Mrs. F. W. E. Peschau. the President of the Society, read a paper on the object, success and prospects of the organization. Both ladies were highly complimented and really deserved much, credit f for their efforts. Mrs. E. Krueger, the wife of Capt. E. Krueger, of the Ger. barque Ciarlotieand Anne, now in port, ren dered several piano solos in an excel lent and artistic manner. She is one of the finest lady pianists in our city at the present time. Mrs. John Haar, Jr., Mrs. F. C. Miller and Mrs. J. F. Lausherv rendered in excellent taste some fine selections of vocal music In closing the exercises of the evening the pastor, Kev. F. W. E. Peschau, made some remarks in which he touch ingiy alluded to the four members of the Society who. haver died during his residence in our city. The Society never has been in a bet ter conditio,! than it is now. -- -: . ' Thanks. Mrs.C. G. Kennedy, President of the Ladies' Benevolent Society, desires to express, in this manner, her gratitude to the ladies of the Catholic Fair for their kind donation of a barrel of flour for the benefit of the "Old Ladies Home." . - - Pergonal - Col.
