Murchison. Fine Vessel lhe schooner Albert H. Cross, ot which Capt. Henderson is master, part fiwnprnnn hticinoca mtinairap ia nnv lying at the wharf of the Wilmington & Wcldon Railroad Co., taking in a cargo of lumber for Philadelphia. She is one of the finest vessels in her build, equip- ment and in all her appointments which we have ever seen, bhe is of 340 tons register, is built of the best and most substantial material, is copper fastened throughout and has a steam engine for hoisting cargo, mast-heading sails, weighing anchor, pumping out and for all other work which requires heavy power. Her cabins and state rooms are roomy and finely fin ished, while her standing rigging is en tirely of wire cordage. She was built at Newburyport, Mass., in 1883 aad is rated as A. I., for 14 years. She has brought cargoes for Messrs. Anthony & Bryce ever since she has visited the waters of the Cape Fear, and those gen- lleman intend that she shall be &epi in their employ as much as possible. Capt Henderson is a very pleasant and companionable gentleman ana every . inch a sailor.. He takes much pride in his vessel, as well ne may, lor sne is worthy of it. Corrections. Mr. Newcomer moved that the thanks of the meeting be extended to the chair man, for the dignity, urbanity and ability with which he presided. After the adoption of this motion the meeting adjourned. directors' meeting. The directors assembled and elected Mr. W. T. Waiters Vice President and Mr. J. W. Thompson Secretary and Treasurer. This road being leased to the W. & W. R. R. Co. the election of other officers was unnecessary. Mr. H. Walters, the General Mana ger, says in his report that all the rail roads souh of the Ohio and east of the Mississippi, will be. changed to the 8ta?dard euge of four feet nine inchesT it is not possible, he says to estimate now the exact cost of this change to the Company, but it will have been very much diminished by the foresight displayed during the past ten years in preparations already made for this change. The accident at the Cape Fear River bridge in December, 1884. he says, cost the Company over $10,000. Very fortunately no one was even injured. The cause of the accident was entirely beyond the ; control of the officers of the Company. An open switch has been placed in the track i a a approacning me araw, wmcn causes much loss of time but insures absolute safety. following is an interesting extract from Mr. Walter's report : .
