The entertainment last night, at the City Hall, gotten up tor the benefit ot the Union Graded School, was -a pro nounced success n every particular. The Hall was crowded with a large gathering ot our best people, who were delighted with what they saw and heard. The exercises consisted ot a calistbenic drill and march by the pupils and a bird concert. In the first, which was by the pupils of the school, the movements were in perfect time and were beautiful and graceful. Iu fact the precesion and apparent ease with which the exercises were con ducted were in appearance like some perfectly constructed machine. The movements were executed without any leader to guide them and were so per feet that the pupils were rapturously applauded The bird concert was an attractive feature of the occasion, Several ladies loaned the use of their canaries and mocking v birds for the time and when a tune was begun on the piano these feathered warbles made the hail ring with their melodies. It was unique as wtll as pleasant to bear the little songsters pour nut their notes, as if in competition with the piano. The entertainment was given under the supervision of Prof. Noble, assisted by the teachers of the school and lady friends, all of whom have just reason to be gratified at the success that crowned their laudable efforts.
