This humanearrangement' gives everybody timely warning. Resides, will enable the country to hold one more general political election then will come tbe Ariarchi3t, deluge. It is estimated by their organ. The Ited. that the number ot Anarchists in the coun try by 1889 will be 500,000 of whom there will be 25,000 in New York and 25,000 in Chicago. These are too many madmen to be out of the asylums ail at once; but, fortunately, by 1889 the American people will number about G0.000.000, and in New York and Chi cago there will doubtless be lamp-posts and rope enough for the occasion. There are imported into the United States annu-1 ally &2 500 OfO worth tf cotton velvets The profitableness of this manulacture in this country is still a problematical matter; in fact, to become remunera live, labor will first have to be trained in its production. The mill in question was able to find but one person in this country familiar with the work of cut liug velvets, and this became a reason a for sending abroad for a sufficient quotalo start the industry. The Eng lish operatives aro velvet cutters, and ibis was the peculiar skill contracted for. The success of the new enterprise will chiefly depend on a large produc tion, and tbe skill and plentifulness of labor, presuming upon a good demand for the goods. There is a duty of 40 percent, on these goods, and this, it is confidently believed, will enable Amer ican manufacturers to compete and crowd out all importations of this kind. A notable phase of railway industry is a railway lie nursery, situated near tbe little town of Farlingcon, Kansas, iu the Southern part of the State It is said to be the largest artificial planta tion of forest trees in North America, and is owned by the Southern Pacific Tbe different sections have been plant ed, respectively, two. four and six years, one-fourth being planted-with the ailanthu9, tbe rest with the catalpa, together with a few of white asb. Those first planted are now about twenty-five feet in height, the lat about twelve, and some of the tailor are seven inches through the stem. There are in all about three million, trees, in full vigor, on the plantation; all were planted four feet apart each way. to shade the ground, though eight, feet is tbe ultimate intention. thi3 plan allow ing threefourtbsol the trees to becut when tbey are ot tor fence posts.
