The wound received prompt sur gicai attention &nu its condition was altogether favorable until yesterday morning, when the sufferer found him self unable o move the wounded limb, aud his condition now. while not con sidered critical, is certainly of a serious nature, with a prospect of a prolonged c onfinement before a complete, cure will be effected Not Taxed This Year. 4- . dome one has discovered that some things which were taxed last year are not taxed this year. The laws of 1837 passed by the last legislature, made no reference whatever to livery stablemen and others who keep horses and vehi cles for hire. By the former laws, these parties were, required to pay a tax of $4 for eaea h rse kept for hire. This clause is entirely omitted in the present laws, and no tax can be collect ed on that score. It is also disclosed tnai tne clause in the old law requiring a tax ot A of one per centum on the grss receipts-ol .hotels and boardiug houses is omitted from the laws of 1887 and this tax cannot be collected. The hotel keepers and liverymen think that the last legislature was one of the best ever known in this State.
