It is the essen tial antagonism between the cynic, the blaspheaxous. the pagan idea anil the intelligent Christian idea, that would make the State tbe supreme thing and sacriGce to it, as to Juggernaut, the hearts and minds and consciences ot tbo children of God. A lUCUAUDiON, :- -:i Cv:r:-"-': O :::, Ar ;;-, (Ji 5 An extraordinary case is reported from Berlin, which has been a subject of reat interest among medical men in lhat city. At a meeting of the medical society, frof. Mendel introduced a pa tient. a well-to-do mechanic, who reg ularly at 9 o'clock in the morning loses the power ol speech and bearing, re maining a deaf mute until 6 o'clock the following morning. From 6 to 9 o'clock be bears and speaks as well as any body. This peculiar trouble showed itself first last year as a sequel to an epileptic attack. The patient, whose menial powers have not euflered. ex hibits another curious anomaly. If a certain spot in the joint of tbe right band is pressed, he is at once seized with convulsions; if a certian spot on the right upper arm is pressed, the convulsions mvtantly disappear. Prof. Mendel made this experiment twice before the assembled physicians. He was unable to give tbe cause of these abnormal conditions, but considered them related to the hysterico-epileptic manifestations sometimes seen in wo' men. Their origin is probably to be sought in a temporary interruption of the nerve functions involved in the process of hearing and speaking. Prof. Mendel said that there was but one ana logous case on record, but that he hoped to bring about a cure. It Should bo Generally Knowu that tbe multitude of diseases of a scrofulous nature geuerally proceed from a torpid condition of the liver. fhe blood becomes impure because the liver does not act properly and work off the poison from tba system, and the certain results are blotches, pimples, eruptions, swellings, tumors, ulcers, and kindred allections, or settling upon the lungs and poisoning their -delicate tissues, until ulceration, breaking down. and consumption is established. Dr. Pierce's "Golden . Medical Discovery" w in, uy nubiug upuu mc nvci auu puri fying the blood, cure all these diseases. Tfco Review J03 Office is the place to crct zood vrori: r.t mociemts priori.
