A tremendous dust storm visited Tucson. A. T., the other day. It cime almost directly from the south. nd struck the city with a roar. It shut out the sun. and almost total darkness hang over tbe city tor nearly half an hour. Every place had Ho be closed. and iras and lamps was lighted through out the houses. Tbe dust was of a red dish cast, as though it might have come from Jersey. . It would seem that Mrs. (J rover Cleveland is not only all that is lovely as a lady, amiable in disposition, charm ing in presence, gracetui in manners and attractive in person, but that she is also true in her conceptions ot wife ly duty and respect. She declined au invitation to present a set of flag to the New York Fire Department, eim ply because her husband was not invi ted to be present ou tbe occasion also. This is the most charminir of all tbn many charming things she has said and done. The late Bishop Elliot, ot Western Texas, who died at Sewanee, Term., last ffeek, was one ot the most vigor ous clergymen in the Protestant Epis- cooal Church. V.r.inia CTiir: VicnrUuru1 nhkari tva The Raleigh correspondent of tbe Petersburg IndexAppeal has this to say of the Governor's Mansion at Ral eigh, now and tor some years past in process of erection : The new Governor's Mansion now in a halt completed condition is someth'ng of an "elephant" on tbe hands of the taxpayers of North Carolina, and tbe proposition to sell it. which is being agitated by several of the papers, finds considerable endorsement. Tho last legislature, in view ot unusual expen diturea demanded tor the establishment of the agricultural college and the new bureau of labor statistics, refused to make even a reasonable appropriation for finishing the bnilding. and it is doubtful it the next will do so. The board of public buildings, composed of tbe governor and state officers, have authority to dispose ot the property, and may do so if a reasonable price cau be secured. It is rumored that the Baptist denomi nation will soon establish a female college here and have in contemplation the purchase of tbe mansion for that purpose. This, howeve . has not been ascertained with any degree ot cer tainy. The building of the house has never been a popular measure with the 'masses," and it will be difficult with any party in power to secure a suffi cient sum for Us completion, especially during the present drain upon the treasury.
