There was one interment an adult in Bellevue Cemetery this week. There were five interments in Pine Forest; Cemetery this., week, three adults arid two children. Rev. F. W. E. Peschauwill preach at St. Paul's Lutheran Cliurch at 11 a. m. to-morrow, in German. There was a goods bracing, health giving atmosphere this morning which was truly delightful. Front Street Market was well sup nlted with a good quality of all 4 , kinds of meats this morning. Services in St. John's -Church to morrow at 7:30 and 11 a. m. and 5 p, m. by the Rector, Rev. Dr. Car- michael. The Register of Deeds issued eight marriage licences this week, four of which were for white, and four for colored couples. Rev. Dr. Yates has so far recover ed from his recent attack of sickness that he will fill his pulpit at the Temple of Israel to-morrow. The bell at the Fourth Street Market was not rung at the time of the fire this morning. So say the firemen and they complain of the matter. - - People from the Sound report that the tides have been remarkably high for the'week. We have noticed that they .have been unusually high in the river iri our harbor. Bellamy, Jr., member of the State Democratic Executive Committee from this district, who has been in Raleigh in "attendance on a meeting of that Committee, re turned to the city last night. Rev. W. Kimball, an Svangelical Lutheran minister from ChinaGrove, N. C, arrived in bur city this morn iug. He is the , guest of Dr. F. X Miller and will preach at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at 8 p. m. to-morrow in English. This Morning's Fire. v At about 7 o'clock this morning a fire was discovered in the upper portion of the house No. 308 Nun street, between Third and Fourth, owned and , occupied as a hoarding house by Mr. W, S. McDermott. Tiie alarm was imuiediately turned in from box 32, corner of Third and Nun streets,and the fire department was promptly in attendance and hard at work in trying to save the property from destruction, and suc ceeded in saving the lower part of the house and a portion of the se cond story. The roof of the build iug was d ist roy ed and the second story, in its central part, was nearly consumed; nearly all of the furniture was saved, although much of it was in a badly damaged condition from the effects of fire and water. There was insurance on the house for $1,000, and on the furniture for $300, both in the North Carolina Home, represented by Messrs. Atkinson & Manning. The Cape Fear . had the honor of playing the first stream on : the flames. -It is not known .how the fire originated, but we hear it stated that one of the boarders was seen at about 4 o'clock ; this morning on the roof, rjuear where the fire was subsequently uiscovereu ana wueii spoken to regarding his conduct, gave an evasive reply. . Hi Bobbitt, Grand Master h of the Grand Lodge I. O. O. F.; of North Carolina, in pursuance of an order from Grand Sire John White, of the Sovereign Grand Lodge, di rected that the : different Lodges in the- States should - hold memorial services on the 20th inst.,J or as near that date as possible, inmemory of Past Grand Master Thomas Wildey, the founder of the Order in Ameri ca, and also in memory of the dead in their Lodges during the year.; ; ' In obedience to this order Cape Fear Lodge No. 2 and Orion Lodge 67 luet in joint meeting last night in Odd Fellows' Hall, and with em blems , of inourning proceeded to Luther' Memorial -Building, where they were joined by the Daughters o: Rebecaji together with the fanii lies and friends of the Order. The exercises were opened by singing "Nearer My God to Thee," after which Rev. F. W. E. Peschau; of Cape Fear Lodge No. 2, delivered the memorial ? address, which . was listened to with profound interest The following are the, heads which he treated: 1st Memorials, their history and signification." 2nd Their value and appropriateness. 3d ?The airii and object of the. pres ent memorial services, under which head he spoke of the growth of the Order and off lie advantages to be derived therefrom. - He paid a fine tribute to P. G. M. Wildey, and an eloquent eulogy to the late Colonel W. L. Smitli, P. G. M. and P. G. R. to the Sovereign Grand Lodge. . At the conclusion of the address P. G. M. , R. J.
