If I hhoultl tile to-night, -My
friends would look upon my quiet
face.
Before they laid it in the 'resting

And deem that death had left it al
most fair,
And layinjr snow-white flowers
against my hair,
Would smooth it down with tearful
tenderness.
And fold my hands with lingering
caress
Poor hands o empty and stf cold to
night If I should die to-night.
My friends would call to mind with
loving thought
Borne kindly deed the icy hand had
wrought;
Some gentle word the frozen lips
had fcuid;
Krrandi on which the willing feet
had sped.
The memory of my selfishness and
pride, "
M v haty word, would all be put
aside.
, And so I should be loved and mourn
ed to-night
If I should die to-night.
Kveii hearts estranged would turn
once more to me,
Ifecalling other days remorsefully,
The eye? that chill me with averted
glance

chance Would soften in the old familiar

So I might rest, forgiven of all to

Keep not your kisses for my dead,

The way is lonely, let me feel them

I Think gently of me; I am trkvel-
worn;
j My faltering feet are pierced with
many a thorn,
Forgive, O hearts estranged, for-
give, l nieau:
When dreamless rest is mine I shall
not need
The tenderness for which I long to

How Men Die.
If we know all the methods of ap
proach adopted by an enemy we are
better enabled to ward off the dan

surrender becomes inevitable. In
many instances the inherent strength
of the body suffices to enable it to
oppose the tendency toward death.
Many, however, have lost these for

little or no help. In other cases a
little aid to the jtveakened Lungs
will make all the difference between
sudden death and iiianv vears of
useful life. Unon th lirst svnin-
