When the Abyssinia was sail ing along near the Island of Xulla Bessey, in latitude 14 degrees 6 sec onds South, longitude 126 degrees 32 seconds East, a white object was uiscoverea lasteneato a mast in a small boat. The little craft was permitted to come alongside, when it was found that it was manned by three enormous savage giauts of an unknown race, who endeavored to talk to the people on the barque by signs but failed to make their ob ject known. The three savages were very tall, and their arms were as thick as an ordinary man's leg, upon which the muscles stood out like great cords. Their boat was a dug out canoe, and their garments con sisted of short, tar-stained shirts that only reached to their waists.- Their bodies and mouths were paint ed a deep brown.
