It is one of the best minstrel showsthat has beenpiere'this season and one of the best shows of any kind. McNisn is tne central nsrure of the troupe, although h is an end mail. TIih Republicans of Pender county meet in Convention at Hurgaw on Saturday last to elect delegates to the State, Congressional and Sena torial Conventions. Mr. H. M. Crooui was called to the ehair and Mr. A. K. Taylor was iiiaile secretary. R. M. Crooiu and K. M. Johnston were elected dogates to the State Convention and It. M. Croom and Wesley Jones, the latter colored' delegates to the Congressional Con vention. There were very lew pres ent at the Convention besides the delegates and it was very tame and spiritless, it had one good effect however, and that is it has put Mr. Johnston. theSheriff of the county, just where the Democrats can find him. He lias aligned hiin- seli now with the uepuulicans, in ubfsoludHsima forma, and it is the first tiuie he has made such a com plete surrender of the fence he has straddled for so long. Democrats who mav want to vote for him at the next election will be hard put to it for an excuse. In the Convention the chair stated to the delegates that Mr. Johnston had asked him to say tf the.
