Anything in regard to the ap proaching encampment of the State Guard at Wrightsyille is read now with much interest, and hence the following circular, issued by the Adjutant-General, will be found of in terest: " . They are a fearful nuisance on Sec ond street, near Princess, ' - The close proximity to each other. The tents will be pitched,' floored "and ready for occupation upon the arri val of the troops. No efforts will be spared to make this encampment as complete and comfortable in con struction and appointments as the lueaus and facilities at hand will al low. 5. Eaeh company must rely on it self for subsistence, it being out of the power of the State authorities to supply rations. Each company should go prepared to establish com pany messes. To this end two cooks and one caterer should be em ployed by each company. Fresh meats, fish, vegetables, fruit, milk, and provisions of all kinds can be purchased at Wilmington or at the camp. For special information on this subject, commaading officers are instructed to communicate with Col. John L. Cant well, Commissary General. Wilmington, who will aid in making all "necessary arrange ments for food supplies. 6. The following is a liberal ra tion: Twenty-two ounces of bread; three-fourths of a pound of salt meat, or one pound of fresh meat; one tenth of a pound of coffee; one-eighth of a pound of sugar; arid salt, pep per, iickles, vinegar, &c, ad libi tum, j 7. Proyision must be made for a period o.f nine days exclusive of the time consumed in traveling. The cost of rations ought not to exceed three dollars per man 10. Each soldier must be complete ly equipped. In addition to his uni form, a change of underclothing, his rifle, cartridge-box, bayonet-scab bard and waist-belt and plate, he must have a blanket, - knapsack , haversack, canteen, plate, cup, snoon, knife and fork. The State will supply all these articles except blankets. Companv commanders should forward immediately to the Quartermaster General at Raleigh reauisitions for such of the above named articles as they may need. 12. It is particularly desirable for comfort of the men that all organi zations should bo provided with fa tigue uniforms, for use in camp and for drills. 13.
