Just o'er was St. Paul's Sunday school, And she, a teacher young and sweet, Was standing in the vestibule For it was raining on the street. Her escort stood beside here there, One saw he was her lover too, And not to blame tor one more fair Could scarce be found the city through. He'd sent for an umbrella wide,' And while they waited till it came Industriously the lover sighed Fanning Cupid's tantalizing flame Sometimes her ruby hps would pout, Her lovely eyes would grance around To see if we were finding out "How matters stood" by look or sound. -At last, the silken canopy Arrived, and they prepared to go; He waiting on her tenderly Her cheeks with roses all aglow. The silent poet viewed the twain, Ami wished them every happiness; Should they together take life's rain, May heaven a happy union bless. The marionettes.
