I Anniversary oI tPe Daily Review it has been the' custom of the Editors and em ployes to celebrate the occasion around the festive board. It wasbe gun on the first anniversary and has : been kept up regularly ever since. Therefore, last night was the twelfth jtime on which this pleasant custom !. , . -. has been observed. This time we ajl voted for a trip down on the Sea- i coast R. R. to WrifrhtsvillF anrl .in o t , i oyster roast at Stokiey's. and all j hands and the devil embarked at ! Princess street at 0 o'clock last even- i ing and were soon, under the nro- tecting care of Capt. Morrison, safe ly landed at Wrightsville. We found Mr. Stokley on hand with all of his force and a ton of oysters (more or less) ready, to welcome us. Soon we were all seated around his hospita ble board and the way the bivalves disappeared was a wonder in itself. They were, indeed, delicious, large, fat and well flavored and altogether the best oysters for a roast we have seen this year. The whole occasion was pleasant and enjoyable to the utmost. Everybody with whom we came in contact seemed determined to make it as pleasant as it could possibly be made. The "vets" in the office, ''one of which we are whom" pronounce it as decidedly the most delightful of the series. We make our acknowledgments for courtesies and attention's to General Manager Chad bourn and to Mr. W. H. Stokley and his courteous assis tant, Mr. J. J. Lippitt. lrarniei-s' Alliance. A meeting was held at the Sutton House at 1 o'clock this afternoon, called by Mr. E. McMoore, county purchasing agent of the North Car olina Farmer's Alliance for Pender county. The meeting consisted of all the purchasing agents of the sub-alliances of that county. The object of the meeting was to en deavor to secure more favorable tern from merchants on the neces sary purchases of supplies for the farmers of Peuder county. A propo sition was also submitted, and fa vorably considered, that the al liances of Pender, Duplin, Onslow, Bladen and Sampson counties unite in the movement and thus, by ag gregating their orders, secure the desired relief through some of our Wilmington merchants. By thus concentrating their or" ders it seems that goods could be sold to alliances at considerably less than the usual per cent, of profit, and we trust that our merchants will not be slow to grasp the oppor tunity of extendingtheirtradeinthe surrounding counties by offering liberal inducements to these al liances. The different sub-alliances of the county were represented as follows Burgaw E. McMoore. Northeast W. C. Murphy. Rhine G. F. Walker. Rocky Point J. T. Bowden. Doctor's Creek & C. Powers. Canetuck J. R. Hilborne. Colly Mills J. W. West. Moore's Creek W. T. Moore. Maple Hill R. F. Powers. Oak Grove Lewis. Committees were appointed who were instructed to wait upon ,the different grocers, dry goods, hard- ware and boot and shoe merchants of the city and endeavor to effect arrangements by which the farmert could be supplied, upon more favors able terms. The meeting was earnest, harmo nious and- an entire unamity pre vailed throughout the conference, which it is hoped may prove of mucb good to all concerned.
