It rained nearly all day yesterday
and all night last night' up to 7
o'clock this morning, the rainfall for
the 24 hours was 1.80 inches, whieh
is pretty heavy. The wind blew,
too, at a lively rate last night. The
highest velocity here was 30 miles.
from the Southwest. At Southport
I the greatest velocity of the wind
j was 38 miles, from the Southeast,and
jthe rainfall there was 1.50 inches
weather, ! No damage was done.

erly and that there would be clear

utes later, or at 9:50 p. m., the cold

it was stated then that the tempera;
ture would fall 40 degrees by Tues
day morninav And to day, at 9:40
a. m., the cautionary signal was or
dered down here, at Morehead and
at Charleston. The wind at that
time had got around to the North
west and at noon the weather had
become clear.
