T.Cans- ler and Miss Lillie Scott, at the First Presbyterian Church last night, was a social event of.unusual brilliancy, and was witnessed by a large gathering of friends,thechurch being fairly crowded. The un dertakers were yesterday afternoon escorted to carriages by Mr. E. M. Andrews, and were driven around town. They visited the cotton fac tories, oil mills, water works, spoke and handle works, and other indus trial plants. All were surprised at the magnitude of Charlotte's indus tries. One visitor said he had al ways heard of Charlotte as a live town, but he found it a great deal livelier than he had ever imagined. Raleigh News and Observer: Par ties in the eity yesterday from Granville county brought informa tion that the flood did great damage to crops in that county and drown ed a number of horses and cattle.
