Names of those who died in Camp Douglas, the list giv ng company and regiment, can be secured from Mr. Noel. The Secre tary of -War has given permission to erect the monument, and the effort will be to make it a credit to the cemetery, in which both Jbeaerai and Confederate dead lie buried to gether. The Philadelphia Evtning 2efe- graph says: "Evidence continues to accumulate to the effect that the gentlemen's1 murderous fish pond on top of the Alleghenies was not only the cause of almost the entire loss of life in the srreat disaster that has honked the world, but that its owners have not been without re cent warning as to its perilous eon dition. A faithful employe now comes out of the wilderness like a witness of consuming wrath to tes tify to the carelessness of those who were responsible fo"r the state of affairs. Every effort will be made to smother and stamp out this kind of testimony, but the truth will all come out despite all attempts to conceal or garble it." prayer, writes, leatlin Canon Wilberforce writes to a London newspaper that his belief in miracles has been strengthened by a miracle performed upon himself by means of anointing and uMy internal ailment," he "was of such a nature that surgeons declared it to be incurable except at the cost of a severe opera tion. At last I sent for elders men of God, full ot faith bv whom I was prayed over and anointed, and in a few weeks the internal ailment passed entirely away." The Canon takes pains to say that he was heal ed by "the Lord's blessing upon His own word;" but, as in so many cases, there was sufficient margin of time and possibility of change of tissue between the anointing and the re covery to jnstify the skeptic in dis connecting the two. Mr. Henry Exall, a well known banker of Dallas, Texas, and a prominent Democratic politician, who is now in Philadelphia, is an enthusiastic believer in the future of the "Lone Star" State. He states that in the eastern section of the State there are immense deposits of red and brown hematite, magnetic and specular ores. The attention of Eastern capitalists has been direct ed to this ore land, and a good deal of it has been bougl up within the past six months. He predicts that before many years Dallas, Fort Worth, (xalveston and many other towns in Texas will be manufactur 'ng cities on a large scale. Up to date, says M . Exall, the crops this year are on a more extensive scale, in better condition ami with bright er prospects than at any time in the past. The cities are growing rapid - 1 as iy anu are generally prosperous. The population of the State in 1880 was 1,600,000, and Mr. Exall is conn dent the census of 1800 will show at least 3,000,000. The State has not only grown in population, but has increased in an equal ratio in wealth and commercial importance. In Oc tober next, from the 15th to the 27th, the State Fair will be held at Dallas. The whole State will be represented in miniature. Nearly every county will have an exhibit of its .material resources, developed and undeveloped. Mr. Exall men tions as a peculiarity of Texas that it not only raises the fruits and crops of the extreme South, but is fully equal in the production of the cereals, to any other section. A Lovely Woman overheard one say of her, "By heav en ! she's painted!" "Yes," retorted, she, indignantly, "and by heaven only!" Ruddy health mantled her cheek, eh throned on the rose and lily. Yet this beautifui lady, once thin and pale, with a dry hacking cough, night sweats and slight spit ting of blood, seemed destined to fill a consumptive's grave. After spending hundreds of dollars on physicians without benefit, she tried Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discov ery; her improvement was soon marked, and in a few months she was plump and rosy again, the pic tare of health and strength. It is the only medicine of its class, sold by druggists, under a posittvc quar antec that it will benefit or cure in all cases of disease for which it is recommended, or money paid will be promptly refunded. g Consumption Incurable?
