Mrs. Hayes, wife of Gen. Ruther ford B. Hayes, lias been stricken with apoplexy and now lies at the point of death. 1 : The latest reports from General Cameron's bedside are that he is no better. He is slowly fighting death and death will conquer. English money is flowing fast into this country for investment. The New Yorkers are talking about it. Some welcome it and say that it will be of great benefit while others fear that it will work serious injury to our home manufactures. Here is an advertisement from a Dakota newspaper. We print it free of charge. If John Jones, who twenty years ago deserted his poor wife and babe, will return, said babe will lick the stuffm' out of him. Cue of the happiest conceits in newspaper Headings tliat we nave seen in many davs is displayed in Sunday's New York Herald. A whole page of that issue is given up to a description of Summer resorts, on,3 naif to the seaside and half to resorts in the interior, and tie lead ing headlines are divided thus: "Let. the seas clap their hands xnd let the hills be joyful together." We are glad to place the New Yprk Star again on our exchange list. It is to-day, as it always has been, the unswerving champion of ptire democracy. It fought a mag nificent fight for the Presidential ticket last Fall and it will fight for it i again, and with more success, in 1892. Last Sunday's edition is com' loosed of 16 pages and presents matter of interest on almost every variety of topics matter which is clean, well written and of absorbing interest. Under its new manage ment the Star promises to score a great success. Long may it live and flourish. 1 w. P. TOOMKR, Cashier. Melon Savinss & Trust Co. PftlNCKsK vit vt r "i TVif roff "sr n . Simon Cam eron before the paralytic blow that struck him down was to siprn a check for $1,000 for the benefit ot the Johnstown sufferers. jV. Y. Mail and Express. Let's analyze this thing. Genera Cameron is said to be worth any where from ten to twenty millions and Johnstown is in his own State, the same which accorded him high honors for long years. If he is worth $15,000,000 then he gave the fifteen thousandth part of his substance to the sufferers. We know of a gentle man in Wilmington who gave $10 to the same cause. He is worth probably $10,000 and he therefore gave a thousandth part of his pos sessions to the people of Johnstown, whom he had never seen and prob ably never heard of until this great calamity befell them. Verily, in old Simon's case it might be called the millionaire's mite. Too well known to need lengthy advertisements Dr. Sage's Catarrh Remedy. 50 cents, by druggists. LOCAL STjBWS.
