THURSDAY, JULY 11. 18S9. : -,- :- Entered at the Postofliee at Wilmington, N.C., as secono-ciass -muner. i . . . - The question of cajling a consti- tutional convention -will be sub- woman is the proprietor of a pros initttMl to the people $f Kentucky in porous newspaper; another owns an August Th proposal for a consti- extensive orchard; there are a dozen tutiomil convention must receive - majority of all the qualified voters of the State on two successive years. The present Constitution went into effect in 18.50, since which time var . ious efforts have been made to change the fundamental law of the Commonwealth,, without success. 1 aa 1 The .Borne plan; of ' profitshanug' with the emplojees in the manufacr turinpr establishment in Fall River, Mass., has been accepted and is now n operation. By the explanation of the treasurer of the mill, the employees would 'have re ceived $2.59 on every $100 Of wages earned the last" six months, had the scheme beni in operation. A man earnintf 500 a vear would have received as his . dividend for the six months, over and above his regular pay, $12,95. As this arrang ment is satisfactory to the workers, it does not involve any loss to them of prospective increase of pay. That may be set down as certain. It is an interesting experiment, and it will be known at the end of six months, in the increase of produc tion and the diminution of waste, now much advantage accrues from profit-sharing. . The Pittsburg Dispatch a promi nent Republican paper, , publishes a two column -dispatch from Colum bus, showing that the reuoiuination of Foraker for Governor of Ohio has caused great dissatisfaction in the Republican ranks. Several of the aspirants ior nomination are.quoieu x . i 5 as chartrinsr the Governor vitii du plicity. It is asserted that, while declaring his purpose not to become a candidate for renomination, and pledging his support to at least one of the aspirants, his strikers were busily engaged in securing county delegations in his behalf, with his knowledge and consent. The cor respondent of the Dispatch quotes prominent Ohio Republicans as predicting that Foraker will be de feated anywhere from 30,000 to 50,000 in November. One of them, a Cin cinnati politician, . predicts that Foraker will be covered up in Cin cinnati by at least 10,000. Some of the Republican States men now in Washington appear to be considerably worried over the political situation in the Territories which are about to become States. The majority in the 5lst Congress is too narrow for comfort, and they feel that no stone should be left un turned to secure Republican success in all of the four new States. They are especially anxious to carry Mon, tana; and among those who talked about it with President Harrison recently were Senators Cullom,; Dolph, Allison andChandleri They told the President that the Demo crats were doing good in Montana, and it was agreed that ev,ery effort should be made to secure Republi can success there. It is quite prob able lhat, as the outcome of these calculations, the Republican nation al committee will take an active hand in the Montana campaign, 1 wnue aiso standing ready to give any needed ; help to the party in Washington and the two Dakotas. Kffectg of Climate. We hear a great deal said; about the beneficial effect upon invalids of the climate of Colorado and other wester localities, but -when :a map changes his place of residence in the hope of improving his health with out flrit trying Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery, he makes a great mistake. -In nine cases out of ten he might save his time and money. This great remedy owes its power over all affections of the throat and lungs, bronchitis, asthma, catarrh and even consumption, which is lung, scrofula, to the simple fact that it purifies and, enriches the blood and invigorates the; debilitat ed system. It is quaranieed to curej in all cases 01 diseases for which it "is recommended, or money paid for will be refunded. The transition from long, linger inr and painful sickness to robust health marks an epoch in the life of the individual. Such a remarkable event is treasured hi - the memory and the agency whereby - the good health has been attained is grate fully blessed. Hence it is that so much is heard in praise of Electric Bitters. So many feel they . owe their restoration' to health to the use of the Great Alterative and Tonic.
