I We hear it stated that the Bur gaw and Onslow people are expected out here from New York next week, and there is some pretty confident talk of what they will do. It is be lieved that this visit will presage the beginning of active work on the line. It is said that the company are large land holders; that they own some 50,000 acres in Onslow county. If so this shows the milk in the cocoanut. Their intention seems still to be to go to Swansboro, and it is reported that they will build a large hotel there, as a health and pleasure resort. If these things are so then it won't be long before a terminus for the road will be sought in Wilmington. ! Stoves. Our esteemed contemporary, Cab- man Jones, mtorms us tnac ne can not support our nominee, the mos quito, fpr the dignified office of national bird. He says the moss qui to does not soar high enough. Indeed, be says that he has lived in countries where mosquitoes 'tilled the air chock full down near the earth, yet on going iip fifteen feet above the ground.he always es caped them. The Post is not an organ. It means to be fair to all parties,- and it must say that Cab man Jones, if his testimony be act curate, has presented the only real argument we have heard against the mosquito. Surely this proud nation will not accept for its bird one that never flies higher than fifteen feet from the earth. However, before we foresake the mosquito we mean to'obtain, if possible, the evidence of somebody who has slept in a seo ond or third story room without a mosquito net over his (or her) bed. R., on regular schedule, ! arrives there at 7.30 a. m. and leaves at 8.30. This is the train on which the business men of Wilmington who tackle the sandflies at Wrightsville every night arrive in the city. This morn ing the excursionists from Mt. Airy arrived therevat 6.30. The sandfiddlers at Wrightsville and Summer's Rest have watches and clocks, pf course, but whoever cared a continental for a watch or a clock when a railroad whistle blew? Hence, when this I morning's special pulled in at Wrightsville there was a commotion in the camp. Every man bound Wilmington-ward sprang from his virtuous couch and swore . that, the hour do w. The clock was an entire household was soon in a fever and the cook came in for more than her share of abuse , for not having breakfast ready.
