The Second Night. The second and last performance here of the "Streets of New York," at the Opera House last night, was greeted with a still smaller house than that of the first night. Still, there was no abatement of spirit in the rendition of the piece. Those who were present were treated to a good performance and those who were not there missed as pleasing an entertainment as 'will probably be put on the boards this season. First Ward Democrats. The meeting of the First Ward Democratic Club last night was not a large one, but what it lacked in numbers was fully made up in- en thusiasm and spirit. Hon. E. D. Hall was present, by invitation, and delivered an excellent speech; his subject being "Democratic Princi ples." Col. Hall was suffering with a bronchial affection, but he' spoke for about forty minutes, and as he' always does, he spoke well and to the point. At the conclusion of Col. Hall's address on motion of Mr. G. H. Gan ger a committee of three was appoint edto draft resolutions expressingap preciation of the speech and the ser vices of Col. Hall, and, also, to pro cure. suitable testimonials to bejpre sented to him to day, this being his 6Gth birthday. The motion was seconded by Mr. Geo.L.Morton, and the chairman, Mr. W. H. At the conclusion of his speech dinner was announced and such a dinner was seldom seen be fore. After dinner an address came from Prof. B. F. Grady; of Duplin who kept the audience spell bound for over two hours with his sound logical talk on the living issues of theaday. He handled the tariff as it ought to be handled.
