The box-sheet was opened at Yates' this morning and already a number of choice seats have been secured. From Ashe County. Front Street Market was bounti fully supplied with fresh meats this morning. We noticed some beef on Mr. Garrell's stalls that would put Fulton Marketto the blush. It. was from Ashe county and was fed on timothy and clover.- The fat on the round of one ouarter was within fraction of three inches thick. Mr. Garrell received yesterday a car load of this meat. There were 25 heifers, averaging 802 Tbs in weight, and 4 cows, which averaged 1,100 tbs. Mr. Garrell has slaughtered just fifty beeves since last Friday morn ins- . The W. A. to the Y. C. A. The Women's Auxiliary to the Y. M, C. A. met at the rooms this morning at 11 o'clock and after go ing through the usual order of ex ercises, had reports from the Com mittees of the various departments. The membership Committee show ed ,t hat there are at present 182 membersn6l tiding six new members who joined to-day. The social committee met at the close of the exercises and decided to hold a public reception on Friday evening, the 18th inst., and com pleted the plans and arrangements for the same. t it was also decided . to - give a thanksgiving supper to a certain trada in the city on thanksgiving day; also, to keep open house, on New Years. Plans for " these occa sions will be published later. The attendance was large and the meeting enthusiastic, showing that the mothers, wives cirid sisters of our city are ready to do their best in the interest of the young men.
