It -rts the old "General" which figured in "An derson's raid," a brief sketch of which is as follows: : "One day, in 18G3, a train from Atlanta stopped at Bie: Shanty. : This engine was attached to it. While the conductor and all the train men were inside eating, Capt. Anderson, a Federal officer, with several . men boarded ihe engine, detached' it from the train, and ran off with it toward Chattanooga. Capt.i Anderson's intention was to tear up the track ami burn all the bridges on the Western and Atlantic Road be tween Atlanta and Chattanooga, so as to deprive the Tennessee 'Jon fed erates of communication with At lanta.
