During the eight months ended
August 31st, 1889, the immigration
of Europeans, to the United States
was nearly 100,000 less than during
the same period, of 1888. The ques

country is rapidly working out its
own solution jwithout the interven
tion of Congress. While the Euro
pean movement to this country is
rapidly declining, there is a strong
increase in the emigration from
Spain and Italy to South America.
