Purest Fruit Syrup, Milk Shakes and Natural Mineral Waterv The Iraiery on the Stage. in me nurry or making up our report yesterday of the proceedings at the Opera House, and the short time allowed us for doing "so, we neglected to notice the beautiful ami appropriate decorations on the stage. These were placed there bv some of the iadies of the Memorial Association who had been requested to decorate the stage. These ladies worked until a late hour onTuesday night, preparing the decorations. The colors of the Ladies' Associa tion, black and gray, predominated Long streamers of these colors, pendant from the ceiling, fell in graceful festoons to the right and left of the .tage. The speakers stand was ornamented with a large portrait of President Davis, eneir cled with a wreath of immortelles' A small purple banner, with the words, in golden letters, "Awaiting the Great Reveille", was suspended just between the portrait. Above this latter two small Confederate flags were crossed. On the right was a portrait of Robert E. Lee and on the left one of Stonewall Jackson. Our loving gray Spanish moss was entwined everywhere. A Confed erate battle flag, which had been borne from the field at Appomat tox and the beautiful banner of the Children's Memorial Association, both draped with crape, were placed at the wings. There was also on the stage a profusion of plants and I flowers. It came from the foot of dies nut street and from the upper floor of a building occupied by Messrs. j. u. mcjiiacnern as v'o. as a grain .1 A "l rr anu leeu store, l nere was a large lot of hay stored on this floor and it Is presumed that the fire caught in some. way from the chimney as it was near this that it was first dis covered: The various arms of. the Fire Department were promptly on hand but the flames spread so rapid ly in the combustible material that it soon became a stubborn fight. xne uuuuing was uooueu wirn wa ter, however, and the fire was soon under control. With the exception of the hay and other feed in Messrs McEachern & Co.'s store, the loss is less than might have been expected. It is more largely by water than by fire. . M essrs. Chas. F. Browne & Co. were next above Messrs. Mc Eachern & Co., and under the fioor where the . hay was stored. They were insured with Messrs. Smith & Boat wright, in ; the Providence Washington, of Providence, R. I., for 500 and with Mr. A. A. Brown. in the St. Paul's, f& 500. This will probably cover the net loss on the stock. Mr. B. F. Keith, Jr., occu. pied the corner store. His stock was valued at between $2,000 and $2,500, on which there was insur ance with. Messrs. Smith & Boat wright for $500, in the Hamburg Bremen, and $1,000 with Messrs. Northrop, Hodges & Taylor in the London & Lancashire. ' Some few of Mr. Keith's goods were removed, butnearly the entire stock was lett in the store and was deluged wiih water. Messrs. J. D. McEachern & Co, valued their stock in hand at between $1,200 and $1,300, and on this they had insurance with' Mr. M. S. WiUard, in the Sun Fire Insurance Co. of London, for $1,000. Capt. C. D. Myers, Mr. Hi McL Green find Mr. Geo. D. Parsley had offices above Mr. Keith's store and succeeded in removing their effects- The building is of brick and was built nearly half a. century ago by the late Mr. O. G. Parsley. It. is the property now of - the estate df he late Julius Samson. The walls are cracked and scarred in several )laoes. It was insured with Messrs.
