Our clever young friend, Mr. Geo. A. Bishop, was married last night to Miss Lula Hudson, a charming young lady of this city. The wedding took plaee at the residence of the brides parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Hud son, on the - corner of Sixth and Church streets. Rev. R. C. Beamaa pronounced the impressive and im portant words that made them man and wife. We tender our-warmest congratulations. Little Lord Fauntleroy. ' Did you ever read this beautiful, this exquisite little book? If not, go directly and get it and read it at once, it is one or tne most beauti ful gems in the literary firnianent. It was written by an American lady, Mrs. Burnett, and was intended pri marily for the entertainment and instruction of the little folks but their elders have appropriated it. It has been dramatized and will be produced at the Opera House here on Monday night, under the man agement of Mr. T. II. French, If possible read the book and then see the play. We understand- that Mr. French's troupe Is an excellent one and that the piece-is put on the boards in a wonderfully realistic manner. How are the Folks? "Oh, they're all well except Moth er, she's about the same. Poor Mother, worn- out by household cares, exposure and overwork. No wonde she gives up at last and takes to her bed. But oh! how much brighter the family fireside would be if mother's chair" was not vacant. The doctors don't seeui to be doing her any good. She says their medi cines don't seem to go to the spot. She feelsso jveak and longs for strength. "Oh! give tne strength," she murmurs. - Why not give her the remedy her system craves? Her impoverished blood and shattered nerves are starving for just such in gredients as are contained in B. B. B. (Botanic Blood Balm). Then try a bottle of this excellent remedy. It is truly woman's best friend. It quickly relieves pain and restores health strength and functional reg ularity. James W. Lancaster,1 Hawkins ville, Ga., writes: lMy wife was in bad health for eight years. Five doctors and as many more different patent medicines had done her no good. Six bottles of B. B. B. has cured her." Miss Frost as Partheula. A very large and fashionable audi ence 'greeted Miss Frost and Mr. Collier and their excellent company at the Opera House last night. The accomplished lady has evidently fully recovered from her recent in disposition. She appeared to great advantage last night. She was an ideal Parthenia. Her conception of the character is exact and her protrayal of it equal to the best we have ever seen. She was applauded to the echo and by one stride has attained a very enviable position in the estimation of our theatre-goers. Mr. Collier, as lngomar, was su perb. His personal appearance fits the character to a nicety and his delineation of it showed how care fully he had conned its meaning in every phase of the representation. We have seen the play a number of times but we have never yet seen two more absolutely harmonious conceptions. The supportin the main, was very good. Polydor, an exceedingly difficult cast, . was sus tained handsomely bv Mr. Clement St. Martin. "Pygmalion and Gala tea" will be presented to-night; "Virtriuius" will be ulaved at the matinee to-morrow afternoon and to-morrow night. The 'short en gagement of the troupe here will close with tliat thrillinr realistic drama, -The Marble Heart." . ? ' i-n. .... - ..' - --.... f.. We well recollect the day when the first fire st earner:. ever brought to Wilmington was turned over to them. ! It took place on the old "Walker lot," on Princess street, where now stands the handsome Smith building. The presentation by the city and acceptance by the company was made in the yard just in rear of the Smith building. Capt. John L. Boatwright was at that time foreman of the company. By the way, we have seen circus per formances on the same ground and that, too, since the war. . For some years previous to the war old John Robinson's circus used to pitch its tent on the spot where now stands the beautiful First Baptist Church, corner Fifth and Market streets. Previous to that it used to appear on the old Academy grounds, on the site now occupied by the City Hall and Opera House and the space in the rear. State Sunday School Convention. This body of distinguished Sunday School workers closed their labors here last night. A "promise meet ing," conducted by Mr. Reynolds, was the first feature of the evening. Many others took part in it. - Scrip tual quotations were recited and in teresting comments made thereon. Rev. E. A. Yates made the first regular address of the evening. It was a beautiful, clear, comprehen sive discourse and sharmed all who heard this eminent divine in his masterly and masterful effort. - Dr. Yates was followed by Mr. Wm. Reynolds, in the best address hejias yet delivered in the Convene tion. ' Mr. Watts, of Durham, then spoke and then came the closing scenes with brief addresses from Rev. F. W. E. Peschau, Rev.'""W. S. 'Creasy, Rev. Dr. Pritchard, Rev. R. C. Bea man and others The committee on resolutions re ported the following. HesolvecL That , the sincere and hearty thanks of this Convention be tendered: 1.
