One of the most brilliant weddings that ever took place in Wilmington was that at St. James' Church last evening, when Mr. George Herbert Smith and Miss Carrie W. Strange were united in the holy bonds of wedlock. Tli e church was crowded to its utmost capacity and many were compelled to stand throughout the service. The officiating priest was Rev. Robert Strange, Rector of the church and brother to the bride, assisted by Rev. W. J. Smith, of Scotland Neck, a relative of "the groom. The bride was given away by Col. John W. Atkinson, her step father. The attendants were Mr. Kirkland Huske and Miss Eliza Pot ter, of Wilmington; Mr. E. B. Engel hard, of Raleigh, and Miss Annie Meares, of Wilmington; Mr. Isaac Manning and MissAugusta Mcpher son, of Wilmington; Mr. William Latimer, of Wilmington, and Miss Sallie Mayo, of Richmond; Mr. J. W. Atkinson, Jr., of Richmond, and Miss Carrie Cochrane, of Washington City: Mr. J. W. Botles, of Wilming ton, and Miss Nannie Smith, of Scot land Neck; Col. W. C. Jones and Miss Minnie Giles, of Wilmington; Capt. Benehan Cameron, of Hills boro, and Miss Callie Reid French, of Wilmington; Mr. W. J. Andrews, of Raleigh, and Miss Lizzie Chad bourn, of Wilmington; Mr. Duval French and Miss Janie Strange, of Wilmington, the -latter couple act ing as best man and maid of honor. The ushers were Messrs. Devereux Lippitt, H. N. Parsley, T. Wright Meares, A. M. Waddell, Jr., H. H. Mcllhenny and F. L. Meares. At the conclusion of the wedding ceremony the bridal party drove to the residence of Col. John W. Atkin son where a reception was held, which was very largely attended. At midnight they took the fast mail train for New York "where they will regain until the latter part of next week when 'they will sail for an ex tensive tour of Great Britain and Continental Europe. The wedding presents were very handsome and made up one of the richest, most beautiful and most ex" tensive tributes ever offered to a bride in this city. They were but one of the many evidences of the tender and loving regard in which this lovely and amiable young lady is held by-l.er large circle of friends and relatives in this city. Lung TroBldes, Rheumatism, Etc. Frequently a person is supposed to have consumption when it is some other disease altogether that is reducing his flesh and making him look pale and thin. J. W. Yates, Tullahoma, Tenn., writes: "It does me good to praise Botanic Blood Balm. It cured me of au abscess on the liings and asthma that troubled me two years and that other rcniedj1:? failed to benefit." So you see It is sometimes well to try constitutional treatment. No remedy is so good as B. B. B. (Bo tanic Blood Balm) for rebuilding wasted'tissue, and giving health to every portion of the syst&ui reached by that great circulating stream of life, the human blood. Again, it is often supposed that colds and expo sure are the only causes of sciatica, rheumatism, etc. Such is not al ways the case. It is frequently caused by impurities in the blood. Wm. Xriee, Luttsville, Mo.. writes: "1 was afflicted with sciatica and had lost the use of one arm and one leg for nine years. I went to Hot Springs and also tried 'different doc tors, but found no cure until I tried 4otanic Blood Balm It made me sound ana well. I am well known ir this vicinity." Observe, even when the renowned Hot 8prings failed, B. B,B. brought relief. Remember, no matter what blood remedy you have tried or in tend to try, B. B. B, is the only one that will give you complete satisfac tion, - Hfreshlns svnd inTlcorattns; Delicious Soda Water as drawn from Munds Brothers' magnificeut new soda fountain at a temperature of 343. It is hoped, how ever, that it is not very great, as the j game despatch called for the ship- j ment by express of a lot of soda, so that operations could be at once re - 'sumed. By this it is supposed that the machinery escaped uninjured, althougfh nothing is yet known as to thi8fact. Mr. Lucai had $3,500 in surance, and; it is hoped that this will cover the loss. He will go up to Durham to morrow to look into thM matter. The Military Festival. The ladies have done wonders in preparing for the W. L. I. Festival, which opens this week.
