Among the many improvements and they are indeed many in build ing enterprises in the city and espe cially in our several beautiful church' edifices, there are none more mark" ed with excellence taste than those recently made in the interior decora tion of St. Paul's Evatisfelieal Luth eran Church, on the corner of Sixth and Market streets. The work of improvement in this building has beeiVin progress several weeks, durr ing which time the regular religious services have been held in Luther Memorial Building. Work has 1 so far advanced, however, toward completion that, although it is not yet entirely finished, services will be held thele to morrow, at the usual hour. As one enters the vestible the first thing to attract attention is an ex cellent oil cloth matting on the floor, while the plastering overhead has been removed and a substantial ceiling of native pine in oil colors has been substituted, and the walls elegantly frescoed with ornamental tiling and a ground work merging from fawii to light red colors, the whole bordered with bronze, green and gold. Indeed, in whatever direction one looks, only pleasing and handsome views appear. The walls in the richest colors and shades of decora tive art; the ceiling, with its inajes tic panels, that are frescoed in the most delicate and finely shaded col ors, certainly present a uiost superb appearance and one is impressed with the fact that it is truly an ar tist's, work, done iii'an artistic man ner. There is perfect unity of de tall running throughout the design, whether we lookat the lower border work, upper fresco decorations, to the gothic arch window borders or to the choir and organ recess.- The ceiling and walls of the organ recess have also been frescoed in the same superior manrter, and present a most highly elegant appearance.
