" !. The Republican" Senators have had their caucus on the Force bill and no decisive resalt has sprung frui It. They talked the thing over on Thursday, night. It eontinued three hours and the Herald report says that the debate was chiefly de voted to the Election bill and how it would be pushed through: but to use the language of a Western -Senator, "We could find no way to get around the rules; they stand squarely in the way and block us." A majority of those present were in favor of giv ing the Election bill the right of way. The feeling -manifested against any change la the existing rules was so strong that there w as no decided stand taken In favor of amending or altering them; at least each a policy was not pressed toayote. It islike ly that another cau jus will be called at an early 'date and meantime the Republican leaders will try to agree on the line of policy to be pursued Economv: "100 Doses"One Dollar.'' What might have been; a very serious accident occurred last night tt.o i.nrna;t Railroad ' at the crossinir of the W. O. & E. c! R. R., at the Mineral Springs, one mile East of the city. There Were three coaches Clled with passengers on the train which approached the city at 10:3d o'clock. Engineer Wood slow ed up on approaching the crossing and without any warning the engine as it touched the! frog there, jumped the track. The air-breaks were at once applied and the disaster was happily averted. The engine and tender were all that left the track and not one of the passengers was iojured, although Engineer Wood received some painful but not se vere injuries, and the fireman was also hurt, though slightly. An ex- ami nation showed that some scoun-j drel had driven a piece of iron be tween the lips of the frog and .thus caused the disaster. If ught. he should be hung. The passengers were all conveyed to town by means of carriages and to day the road is all right and open to traffic as usual.
