Hankins, of this city, who was in Gen. Barringer's cavalry regi ment, met him there last night and the two gentlemen had a long talk about the old and troublous times. It was the first time they had met in 2G years. An Otter and a llrlckbat. There nre some few otters iu this vicinity but they aro rarely seen. Mr. Luke McClammy, of Scott's 1111. who came into the city this morning, found one, however, ant took him iu. He was in his buggy journeying in this direction and when about U miles from the city he saw a black object in the road which he nt once concluded must be au otter. The animal stopped in a clump of bushes near ;t he road and Mr. McClammy descended from his buggy and finding a brickbat in the road he ''chunked" it at the ott3r. Ue hit the animal- fair andsquare in the forehead and knocked t over and Mr. McClammy, completed the work with a stick. . There waa pond of water about 100 yards from the road aiufit is probable that the otter was making for It at .'the time.' Mr. McClammy brought the body to the city and exhibited Jt here.
