The ceremony of installation bt ing finished, the choir rendered an other beautiful selection, after which Rev. Dr. Creasy was presented to the audience by Mr. H. H. Munson. Dr. Creasy's address was a spirit ed and eloquent one, setting forth the principles of Masonry and giv ing a briet sketch of the history and progress of ttie order, as well as of the good worK it lias accomplished in all ages df the world. Notwithstanding this three ( streams were turned on the burning. building.- - , There were in the round house 17 engines. The building was a" total ruin and all tljie engines more or Ies damaged. The fire department re mamed steadily at work till 8 o'clock a. in. before Chief Engelhard tapped the stroke indicating that tin1 flames wereentirel y n fished. The burned building is not connected with the shops and is used only as a shelter for engine-. One of the damaged engines belonged to the Egjpjfc, CoarConi )a n y. The aiuount of loss cannot yet be definitely ascertained but will pro? bably be between .$10,000 aqd .50, 000. Some of the engines were dam aged to the extent of $2,000 each and it is thought that the average dam age to eacli engine is about $1,500. There was no' insurance. The Kaleigh & Gaston company has telegraphed for and secured more engines'and the regular Traffic o f t h e road w i ! 1 go o n u ui n te rr u p t edly." ' - ,' ,,. ' - ; . The building was thought to be entirely fire proof. The wall in the real was brick and the front was iron and wood. Maj. (J.
