R. Blossom & Evans recently filled to order at their distillery, and shipped to New York, fifty casks of spirits of turpentine in the Imperme- able Pine Casks manufactured by the Wilming ton Manufacturing Company. We have been shown a telegram received from the consignee, statimr that the lot had arrived in such per- feet order that a part of it had been sold from the wharf without wantaging, a transac- a.-!-- I. uoniueu win i iwvKi..fiw o vc.jr uuusiuu hv fliose accustomed to shipping this extreme- y volatile fluid, the leakage being ordinarily t?o great, that it must be a very choice lot, showing no sign whatever -of leak or sweat, that will find a purchaser willing to buy with out first taking the outs. ' ' We know that shipments have for some time past been made in these casks, the results being universally satisfactory, but this is the first instance, the incontestable proof of which has come nudcr our eye, and wc gladly avail oairself of the opportunity to place on record this evidence of the superiority of the Impermeable Pine Barrels. To the Wilmington Manufacturing Company is due the credit of ,being the first to discover and apply the adapt- ability of our native pine to this purpose, and a V t 1' J j . 1 II . !.. 1 . Distillers and merchants are well aware of the immense yearly loss from leakage, and will, therefore, nnderstand and t, i i .i . , , appreciate the incalulable value of a package wiiicn win convey every arop oi tne nuia iacea m it to any market, no matter now uis- tant, nor m what climate. As these casks are shown to possess this capacity, it follows, from the nature of the case, that they will in time drive out all inferior competitors, aud revolutionize the barrel trade in this section Advertising Agency at the OiSce of the Morning Star. Room Is left for exercises of sufficient leugth to give facility in the formation of the . letters" and the whole comprises a neat little book of some fifty pages, 'printed on paper which can be written upon with cither pen or pencil. It appears to us that the system -is an ad mirable one, and a great improvement on the present 6tyle of copy-books, and the " Copy Book Primer" will doubtless prove an acquisi tion to both teacher and pupil. Meares, Jr., delivered his lecture on the life and character of S, S. Prentiss, before a large aud attentive audience last evening. The meteoric career of that remarkable man was portrayed in glowing language, his; virtues generously dilated upon, and his faults cover ed with the mantle of charity." : The lecturer held the undivided attention of his audience for about forty-five minutes, and evinced in the composition and delivery of his essay many qualities of the scholar and the orator.
