They have managed tlje -ajgn weU a8 men without mon- ev could conduct a contest, and their lail- if ffore cftrrie8 -U D feproach to the.r enerp or enthusiasm ; but simply proclaims their misfortune in not being supplied with money that es sential to the success ot a campaign, to be conducted in the year 1869. The Larkins faction were respectable in numbers, not deficient in brains, and not wanting in energy ; but these advantages were nothing compared to the "wire working " of " Gee Zee w, of Mabson, Arn old, Rourke, and others; and they sank in to zero when compared to the pecuniary to voters, and to. the lavish hand with which " the ring M cast the large supply ot greenbacks within its grasp. The election of Eagles may dishearten a few of the Larkins party, but such an un- faltering determination and such an un- changeable sentiment, as that possessed by Price, Avant, Holmes and other leaders, er be shaken by adversity, and will know no diminution as the political world revolves on the axis of '69, if we may so use me term The challensce has been issued and ac- cepted by each ot the contending factions and war has been declared, and waged at the ballot box; but peace has not been per -manently restored, and the minority par- ty will not cease in' its determination to " me next election at an nazarus. The Conservatives bad little real inter f est in the result, and wc will not discuss I the probable benefit or injury to accrue from Eagles' conceded election.
