Among the bugjjies on exhibition, those of

cited universal admiration. The top bugsy is
so arranged that the top can be shifted with
out leaving any iron whatever attached!? the
seat. Another feature Is that the top can be
easily removed, if desired, in ttrec minutes,
and then you have a bugy without a top.
The frame of the body was bent in making
instead of jointed', as with other buggies,
tho whole frame being one solid piece.
All the work connected with these buggies
was executed in Uie shop of the exhibitors,
the wood used in their manufacture being
mountain hickory, obtained" in the western
part of this State.
Haydcu & Dauby, of this city, also exhibi

which is exceedingly neat

Among the musical instruments on exhibi
tion and which attracted much attention, were
two splendid pianos by P. llcinsberger, and a

There were some fine specimens of art,
among which we noticed beautiful paintings
by Mrs. (Jen. Ransom, Mrs. J..C. Mann, Miss
Mag. Rankin and Mrs. K. A. Nixon. VanOrsdell
also exhibited some very creditable specimens
of his skill as an artist, and G. II. Applcget
of Raleigh some well executed architectural
drawings.
'Mr. Thomas Monk had the largest specimen
of swine, a hog weighiug, it is said, about
uinc hundred jonnds. He was certainly a
monster bog.,
Mr. O. A. Peck made a fine display of differ

son of jewelry and silver ware; Mr. E A.
Dayton, of Richmond, of circular saws, and
other implements, and Mr. A. DT. Ncfl of
stoves and tin ware.
Mr, John W. Rison, Druggist, of Richmond,
Va., made an exceedingly tasty and attractive
display of articles in his line, such as drugs
and medicines, flavoring extracts, &c. He is
the gi-utleman who manufactures the Tobacco
Antidote, which is curing so many inveterate
chewers and smokers of their uisagrceable
habits. '
Mr. C. R. Banks exhibited some splendid
specimen9.of home-made candy.

MARLS, MINERALS (fee.
The articles on exhibition come under
three divisions, Lime, Marl and Manipu-
iaiea irnospnates.
I he Lime was exhibited by Geo. D.
Parker., It is manufactured from oyster
suells, and is very white and apparently
pure. " ' ;
Phosphates were exhibited by the Na-
vassa, &c.. Companies, ot Wilmington, D.
M. Brice & Co. and Worth & Worthy Of
course no estimate of the' value of such
articles is possible in the absence of chem
ical analysis. But as they are manufac
tured from tho Navassa and South Caro
lina phosphates, which are the basis of
nearly all similar manufactures in this
country, there is no reason why they should
not be equal to the best. Your committee
are much gratified to see such evidences
of enterprise in this new and most impor
tant industry, and earnestlv recommend
that our farmers shall give them a fair
trial.
Specimens of Marl were exhibited bv
w. ia. x renen, u. liovvrten, u. Al. lot)erts.
Cronly & Jlorris, H. B. Short and D. Mac-
Rae. from New Hanover, Brunswick. Co-
luraous, Kobeson and Dublin counties.
These Marls represent very fully the several
Kinrts which abound in these and the
other Eastern counties of the State, viz :
Green and White, or Chalk Marl, Blue
and Red. The White Marls are very rich
in Lime, some of them containing more
man yu per cent, as those . from Rocky
f omt anti the ni-ignuoreood of Wilming
ton. The others, besides a large Der cen
tage of the carlcareus matter, , contain,
many of them, a notable quantity of
Phosphate of Lime , and of the Alkalis.
All these varieties are valuable and from
their abundance and accessibility consii
tute an inexhaustible mine ol wealth for
the Eastern farmers. Your Committee
are glad to observe evidences that some
of them at least are beginning to under
stand this. . , .
Specimens, of Muck nnd Peat were'alao
exhibited by G. Z. French, from the
Northeast river.

Female Diseases.
Large numbers of women in fact almost
nine-tenths of the entire sex suffer from
some disease peculiar to females.
Da. Lawbknce's Womaw's Friextj meets
with wonderful success in curing them.
This fact should be widely known. If every
lady in the United States were tu take one or
two bottles of the Woxak's Frivnd, they
would be repaid by a renewal of health and
strength.
it is a safe and reliable remedy, and is en
