We learn that six hundred barre's of spirits
ul turpentine were shipped to New York via
Philadelphia during the past week. This, we
understand, was done on account of the high
lutes of freight charged on the regular Hue of
steamships between thla port and Nw York,
the charge by way of Philadelphia, with clean
bill of lading, being only fl 25 per barrel.
A Hlmple Care for Bore Throat.
A well Informed friend sends ns the follow
ing: Take the whites of two eggs and beat
tlicm in with two spoonsful of white sngar,
grate in a little nutmeg, and then add a pint
of lukewarm water. Stir well and drink often.
Repeat the prescription If necessary. Our

Harbor master's Report.
From Capt. B. J. Lawton, Harbor Master,
wu have the following report of the number of
vessels that arrived at this port during the
mouth of May: Steamers, 15; Barques, .1;
Bri, J; Schooners, 15. Total, 83 with an
Mreate tonage of 15,816 tons. Of these 1
barque and 1 brig were foreign. Not included
in the above are 21 small vessels under CO tons.
Anetber Robbery.
We learn from the Jiobesonlan that the dwel
ling of Mr. Wm. C. McNeill, near Moss Neck,
in Robeson county,' was entered last Sunday
night and bis pantry plundered of its contents.
A number of fowls, also, were taken from the
premises, and an unsuccessful attempt made
to enter the smoke-house. This robbery Is
thought to have been committed by other par
ties than the outlaws, but they have, thus far,
escaped detection.
