Poisson in favor of Convention, ; j, The speeches of these gentlemen ' were re plete with sound arguments, in which they showed conclusively to all unprejudiced minds the necessity lor.a Convention jr to reform abuses which were operating injuriously to !1 classes of our citizens, except the j office-hold ers, in burdening them with unnecessary and exhorbitant taxation unknown before the pre sent Constitution was foisted upon : the State and people by the Republican pary. 1 It is hoped their efforts will have the de sired effect in opening the eyes of these who heard them to the great necessity of .Conven tion and Constitutional reform. Col. Cowan lead off and was followed by Mr. Holmes, Maj Poisson making the last speech of he evening.
