T We learn that a' tow occurred asi night at a colored ball which was in operation at Hil ton, on the Northern outskirts of the city, du ring the atternoon and evening, and that a young colored man, by the name of Joe Lucas, formerly connected with Allen Evans', bar room on North Water street, was shot by one of tbe party. If you could suggest any means that I could lawfully employ which would relieve I the tax payer, I would gladly adopt them. The Outlaws Still In Their Old Haunts What They Say. - - . ;r IFrora the Robesonian.J 1 We learn that the outlaws are still in their old haunts in Scuflietown and vicin ity, and that they have recently visited the houses of several citizens in that re gion; i ; , ; ' ., Ji' .- . ., On Friday last they were at the house ot Mr. John McNair. ;: On Saturday morn ing they called1 at the . house oi. Mr. Mc Raekan. about one ' mile ' distant from McNair's, where they had breakfast, and then proceeded one mile further to Mr. Patterson's, where, they got dinner. In the afternoon they, put in an appearance at the house of Mr. J. Fl Bridgers,' where several of the neighbors were collected to gether assisting Mr., Bridgers in a iob of work. -Here they remained for a consid erable time discussing the situation, and giving their views as to the best means of settling the quarrel between themselves ana tne people or the county. ' They expressed themselves T as "tired of their present mode,of life, and anxious to return to the duties and peaceful-pursuits ot good citizens, it they could do so with satety. r They proposed if the citizens would unite in a petition to tbe Goyemor and procure for them a pardon for their crimes, they would leave the State within three days, never to return; but unless this was done they would remain, and ex pressed full confidence of being able to maintain inemseives ior ten years. . They expressed great contempt.of the militia, saying they could hear them moving at the distance of a!, mile their only apprehension of danger, being from Capt.
