The fair for the benefit of the Sisters of Mercy opened at the City Hall last evening, and not withstanding the threatening appearance of the weather, was largely attended. A glance at the arrangement of . the various tables, which were filled with everything that could delight the eye or tempt fle appetite, con vinced us that the ladies under whose auspices the fair is given had bestowed great care and attention In their preparations. All the tables, of which there are six, including the cake ta ble, which is located on the platform, were handsomely decorated with festoons of ever greens, the whole presenting a magnificent appearance to the eye of the spectator. Among the beautiful and costly articles .to be railed off during the Fair are a splendid sil ver tea-set, the "Fairy Castle?' gold watches, Ac.
