In fact, it seemed to our mind to be the tamest affair bf the kind we ever witnessed.1 After the conclusion of the hand-shaking a procession was formed 'in front of the Hall composed of about two or three. hundred peo ple, and marched to Hilton, where the speak ing was to take place. Here Col. Thos. Long1 of Salisbury, lead oil in a speech of about forty minutes in length, during which he told some very amusing anecdotes, which .took'? with his audience amazingly.
