Local Dots. The steamship Benefactor wiii sail from New York next Saturday, as we learn from the Agents. Emergent meeting of Wilmington Lodge, U. D. this evening, at 7 o'clock, for work. A fine shower commenced falling about 2 o'clock yesterday morning, laying the dust very effectually. Persons wanting bill-posting done can have the same prompt! attended to by leaving their orders at the Star office. Germania Lodge No. 4, K. of P., met last night and exemplified the new work as d &t w.v- Lodge. In the XL S. District Court, yesterday, the day was consumed in the consideration of a bankrupt case. No other business transacted. '"Mr. W. N. Bowden, for two years past connected with the Wilmington and Weldon Railroad, has accepted a position as book-keeper with Messrs. Bass, Scott, &Co. We had a call, yesterday, from Mr. Powell, Proprietor of the Richmond Thea tre Company, who is here for the purpose of making arrangements for a visit of the Company to this city during Fair week. The City Treasurer gives the final notice to all indebted for city taxes on real estate and personal property, warning them that the same must be paid on or before the 20th mst, or the property will be ad- vertiscd and sold, as no longer indulgence I will be given. Tlie Theatrical Season. Lovers of amusement in our city will be glad to learn that they are to be treated to an unusually stirring and brilliant theatrical season during the Winter and Spring. Such an array of artistic talent, in fact, has prob- ably never before graced our boards, during anv one Benson, as will visit our nroffressive I citv between now and the "blushing month of May." To commence with, Anderson, the celebrated Magician, will occupy theX)pera House for the balance of this week. Next comes Kate Fisher, with hercelebrated horse "Wonder," supported by a superior company from the the Richmond, Virginia, Theatre, who has an engagement here dur ing Fair week. In ' addition to these en- gagements have already been efEected with j the following first-class stars and star com panies: Kate Putnam's Comedy Company; Ole Bull's Concert Company; the beautiful and fascinating Mrs. Jas. A. Oates, already an acknowledged favorite with Winning- tonians; John E. Owens, the celebrated Comedian; the Dupy and Benedict Mins trel company; Madame Janaschek, whose reputation is world-wide ;G. L. Foxe's Com- Lpany, from the Olympic Theatre, New York city, and many others of note in the theatrical world.
