Disorderly Conduct on the Part of a The bad pohcy of allowins coats to run at large on the streets was so strikingly demonstrated by an incident which occurred yesterday, about 1 o'clock, that no re-but; testimony could be adduced strong enough to induce sensible people to incline toa contrary opinion. The incident alluded to was this; , .Two ladi the corner of Fifth i and Market streets when a large and ugly looking goat, with about four feet of rope trailing r after him, one end of which was fastened around his neck, made a furious attack upon them. Of , . course they were badly frightened ; but, as luck would have it, a couple of - gentlemen happened to be near at ! 'hand and rushed to the rescue, one of them seizing the rope attached to his goatship and tying it to a fence near by, when the two ladies went on their way re joicing at- their escape ' from the danger which had seemed so imminent. Their rescuer, however, did not fare so well, he having received several severe bruises in his efforts to secure the brute. Fire on a Small Scale. The roof of a small house located on the corner of Seventh "and Mulberry streets, took fire from a spark from the chimney, yesterday afternoon, and for awhile it was feared that" a serious conflagration would ensue Fortunately there was plenty of J' F , ater at hand, and the burning roof was deluged with it from buckets in the hands Z'J 2,11 5 of the Pre Chape.
