A friend from Gold sboro informs us that on Wednesday last Mr. Council Best, a farmer residing about 20 miles from that town, had occasion to. discharge a young white man by the name of F. W- Folk. That evening Mr. Best missed his horse and immediately suspected young Folk of being the thief. A detective was placed upon the track. Arriving at Fremont late in the evening he (the detective) concluded to stay. all night Our friend Mr. Jas. D. PCKDIB RICH ARDSON. . h - In the death of this gentleman Anson countr has lost an honored and useful citizen one who In aU the relations of life, public and private, has left a record worthy the imitation and aspiration of the most ambitions. When called by hia fellow-citizens to represent them in the legislative halls he, only too modest and unpretending to take the leading and prominent potations to which his talents, edu cation and patriotism entitled him, was ever found faithful to the trusts reposed in him and diligent in ine aiscnarge ox uuuca aevoiving upon nun. . i At home, amonerstthe hundreds who knew. aDDre- ciated and loved: him, his counsels were always those emanating from, a diseeming and well-bal anced mind; his genial, friendly nature rendered hint, socially, the most pleasant and desirable of companions; his kindly feelings and generous regard Tor au win lonz keen lu i nis memory in the hearts of those who i delight to call him friend. He died verr suddenly, at the aire of 71. beinr in his usual buoyant and cheerful condition only a tew hours before his death. The blow fell heavily upon his devoted family and upon the whole com munity. Church, State and society alike have suf fered, and a void has been created which will not soon be filled. Cox.
