The Murderer of diaries Goodrich Knotvn at Last Lneette ITIeyers' story as Told to the Chief of Police. New York, March 30. The Mercury ta-day ' publishes a. letter from Baltimore, which says that the : police in that city are in search of a Spaniard, named Roscoe, the alleged murderer of Charles Good rich in Jirookly,.and the lover of Lu cette J. Meyers, now under arrest. On receipt of the letter a Mercury reporter visited the father of Lucette, and he said he remembered a Span iard who frequently called to see his daughter, but had not called since they came 'to reside Yin; Kivihgton street. The Mercury then gives the follow ing story concerning the main actors in the tragedy and the murderer: Before becoming acquainted ,with Goodrich, Lucette was intimate with the Spaniard, Koscoe, rinding that ( ood rich was possessed of rample moans, and that his assertions of owning houses in Brooklyn were cor rect, she forsook Roscoe . for bim. When her people removed from Stan ton street she changed her workshop and strove to hide her whereabouts from Roscod She also gave ajwrong address on employing with Mrs. Levy, and charged those in the place to de ny her presence should any one" call for her. v 1 " ; 5 " That the Spaniard was cognizant of her preference for Goodrich and jeal ous of the favored lover is shown by the dispute they had in her house, and to save him from . WiL Lodge No. 310. The Street Railway Imrovementa la Conteuplatlou. We learn that the present owners of the Wilmington and Seaside Railway have , the matter under consideration of enlarging the field of this useful institution so as to accommodate a larger number of our. people. The plan now under advise-' ment is to run the road down-'FronWto Market, op Market to Seventhout Seventh to the intersection of Red Cross and Ran kin, out Rankin to- the Cemetery. ( Com mencing at Front again it is proposed to run it out Red Cross to Fourth, out Fourth to Bladen; and out Bladen to the Union Depot. It is further contemplated, we understand,' to have six light, one-horse cars, by which means a regular schedule can be run, . close connections made and system and, regularity established and preserved in the managemen t "of " the road. I They are also considering a proposition to extend , the road to the Sound, using a dummy engine, &c, provided the necessary assistance and encouragement shall be ex tended the enterprise. This is a matter in which all our citizens are more or less in terested and we hope they will give it their cordial and hearty co-operation. The ex penses would be comparatively light, as no such costly paraphernalia would be required asls necessary on our common railroads. Let us have the .road to the Sound by all means. In addition to the above, we learn that it is contemplated to extend the road on Wa ter street at no distant day, .with cars suit able to the purpose of transporting freight to and from the depots. : ' We are glad to see that a new era of prosperity and enterprise is making itself felt in the community, and that Wilming ton Is evincing a determination to keep up fully with the progressive spirit of the times.
