Intelligence was received in this city yes terday of a desperate affray which occurred in' Taylor's Bridge Township, Sampson county, on Monday last, which resulted in the death of colored man by the name of Mayner. It seems that Mayner had been accused of ecttingiire to the woods- in 1 ' '"r that vicinity," and MrvB; C.. Barden went to see him for the purpose of investigating the matter. During the course of the inter- View high words passed between the par ties, which finally resulted in Mayner's siez ing a gun and firing upon Mr. Barden, but without effect, whereupon the latter return ed the fire and killed his antagonist o the spot!
