A Lodge of the Independent Order of Red Men, an institution which has been flourishing for some time past 'in Virginia and other ( States,; is about being ; formed here.' The proposed organization is already composed of about twenty-live members, and a charter will be applied for in a few days. Brothers, located" at Fair Bluff, Columbus county, was entirely destroyed by fire yes terday morning, about 3 o'clock. -t The fire originated in the kitchen, and is supposed to have been accidental. A portion of -the furniture was saved. The estimated loss is about $3,000, the property being insured for $2,000 in the Queen," represented in this city by Messrs. Atkinson & Manning. ' The entertainment by the young ladies of the Misses Kennedy and Hart's school, which came off last evening, was largely attended by the friends and patrons of the institution, who were warm in their praises of the manner in which the, yonng ladies acquitted themselves. ' The roof of a small house in the vicinity of Blossom & Evans' distillery caught fire yesterday about 12 o'clock, creating con siderable excitement and alarm for a few minutes, but the flames were soon extin guished without material damage.
