The regular monthly meeting of the Young Men s Christian Association took place in their new rooms ia the Masonic Hall, to which they removed on the 1st. of October, for the first time last night The attendance was good and much interest w as manifested as to the future success and use fulness of this important and praiseworthy institution. Charlotte Democrat, makes these suggestions to the Legislature which meets next month : The people' heed some practical legislation, Such as enlarging the jurisdiction of Magistrates, making .-it a punishable offence to interfere with laborers by hiring them away from a man who has make a bargain" for their services, and a more speedy punishment ' f or rogues and rascals. A more stringent vagrant law should bo enacted so as to compel men and women to work or. show some means of living Without' stealing.
