Another report was that Geo. L. Mabson, accompanied by Maj. W. A. . Smith, are to leave Raleigh for Washington City this even ing, where they go to urge the claims of the former to the position of Postmaster of this city. Clinton and Feint Casvyell Road. We learn 4hat the proposed meeting of the friends of the Clinton and Point Caswell Railroad, which was to have been held in the former place during the session of the late Fair, did not take place, it being deem ed expedient to hold the first meeting in the interest of the proposed enterprise at i Point Caswell. This . meeting, we under stand, will come off sometime, between our Fair and Christmas. It is understood that a wooden road has been decided upon. Counterfeits. Persons who are so' fortunate as to receive money during these dull times are cautioned to look out for counterfeits, as such bills are known to be in circulation iu this city. One of the denomination of $20 was passed off on a merchant,: but by the aid of a policeman he was lucky '.enough to find the individual from whom' ' he- received it and got a genuine bill in its place.
