Speculation is rife in regard to the prob able result of the Republican Nominating Convention to come off in this city on Sat urday. There are-57 delegates in all, of which the city will send 18 and the country townships 39. Ot this number the friends of Manning, for the Sheriffalty, claim 32 from the country and 11 from the city. On the other hand Mr. Gardner and his friends claim that this calculation is erroneous; that he will get a big slice' from the number claim for Manning and Burney, .and that, in fact, he feels pretty well assured of the nomina tion. For Superior Court Clerk, Heaton claims a large majority of the delegates and argues his nomination as a foregone con clusion. According Jto these calculations the' chances for Burney for Sheriff are rather slim. ' A lively time is expected in the Con ention. -' " ' : .''-;' J. K Clark, Grand Royal Arch Captain. J. W.
